“Such a classy show, the stereotypes being portrayed extremely well” Sam Baker

A Real Summer

Not your standard Cupper’s entry, but perhaps another reason why I enjoyed this so much. More importantly, the acting and voicing of the characters was moreorless spot on throughout. Meg Barlett and Finola Austin, who directed themselves for this challenging piece, put on such a classy show, and portrayed the upper class stereotypes extremely well. Steven Poliakoff’s study of an emotionally unstable upper-crust of society was brought to life ever so effectively by brilliant acting and control of character. What is particularly difficult in such a piece is the sustenance of interest through monologues. This was achieved by Meg and Finola, who brought out the climaxes in tension most effectively.
