Moralising plays are highly dangerous; quite often they are some of the most tedious pieces of theatre to watch. Not so with Fugee. Gripping from the onset, the cast portrayed the protagonist’s descent into refugee related hell superbly. The acting was consistently of an high standard; despite the cast playing multiple roles, such was the quality of characterisation I had no difficulty in identifying each one. Eleanor Hardy’s ‘Kojo’, the protagonist, was the highlight of the play, fearless and finessed just as Dami Oshowo’s smaller role stood out. Max Clerke-Brokman’s direction was equally as good. Movements were meticulous and took full advantage of the space, augmented by sympathetic lighting, and impeccably timed music. If this group can produce such a slick and highly polished play in ten days, or so they claim, then I look forward to the group’s next offering.

I have seen Ellie Hardy in another production (Our Country’s Good) and she was stunning in that too.
Hardy appears to be continuing her consistently passionate stage performances
Hardy’s performance was nothing short of stunning, the passion she captured exquisite – quite the standout.
