“There are some touching moments of intimacy, but overall the production falls somewhat short of achieving the high degree of intensity and violent self-abandonment required for this play. Still, it’s one to watch if you feel like indulging in a little poetic melancholy at the end of term” Annina Lehmann
“Perhaps, as an American, I was a little hypersensitive to the accents, but it was a bit distracting to hear them fade in and out.” Erin Horan

“the mix of tragedy and humour was faultless, and while I may disagree with some of the bigger directorial choices, I cannot do anything but praise the many little touches which served to add many a laugh or a pang of sadness throughout the play.” Alexander Du Sautoy
“This play was wonderfully enjoyable, funny and serious by turns, and with a well maintained pace, despite limited action.” Rebecca Whiteley

Monday 14th June – Thursday 17th June, 7.30p.m.
“Though at times it hits the heights that we might expect, this production more often than not comes across as what it ultimately is – one last hoorah.” Matt Harper and Sarah McCready
“This is a play without repercussions, in which all the ‘mornings after’ have been sheared from the plot. The focus rests entirely on the sex itself. It is a fascinating premise, and one which most of the cast (I counted at least four former Playhouse leads) pulled off spectacularly well.” ...

Friday 11th – Saturday 12th June, 8p.m., Saturday matinee 5p.m.
“What a refreshingly unusual performance. Tom Brady’s event has transformed the Moser into a rare mix somewhere between music hall, recital and pantomime. Bedecked with fairy lights, and with the musicians seated comfortably near the audience, BradyAid was from the start a cosy affair more reminiscent of a school concert than a classic piece of Oxford theatre.” Charlotte King

Wednesday 9th – Saturday 12th June, 7.30p.m.
“The action moved slowly at first, and the production was a little rough around the edges (a few mangled lines and rushed lighting transitions), but most of the actors did a good job of conveying the meaning and intent of Jonson’s script and as the play progressed the plot became more gripping, the performance more confident and polished, contributing to what was overall an entertaining evening.” Lukas May
“although the play is farcical, it is not a pantomime.” Catherine Owen

Uncle Vanya
Review by Rebecca Whiteley
Staging a play outside has its ups and downs. If you’re going to do it, you couldn’t find a nicer place than the Merton Fellows’ garden, the atmosphere was lovely, the birds chirruped authentically and the gradual darkening of the sky accompanied the darkening ...

“One actress was a ray of sunshine in the otherwise bleak production; Naomi Setchell as Marcus was refreshingly real, and brought a touch of genuine emotion to points in the play.” Samantha Bell

Tuesday 8th – Saturday 12th June; 9.30pm
“The portrayals of the four lovers are…lacking in menace. Their characters are profoundly exaggerated to extenuate the comic side to the play which, though discordant with the sinister intentions, is spectacularly successful.” Matt Harper and Sarah McCready
“The Dream does have an unconventional edge – not least that the forest is set as a rubbish dump – but needs to have teased out those edges rather more to capture the sinister mood it so sorely seeks.” Hannah Daly

Tuesday 8th – Saturday 12th June; 7.30pm
“Although not without flaws Network does everything it seeks to achieve, with many moments of comedy not holding back a plot which touches on a number of prominent issues.” Jonathan Edwards
“is Network a dystopia? Is it a romance? Is it a comedy? Although this is an impressive piece of new writing, Network raises a lot of questions which it never quite gets around to answering – presumably sidetracked by a quiz or two on Facebook.” Simon Thomas
