The Magic Toyshop (2nd week)

“Using one of the simplest theatrical techniques, with three white pieces of cloth which hung from the ceiling, a visual experience was created that was so stunningly horrific that I was literally flung back in my chair, unable to look away.” Ashleigh Wheeler
“The surreal and disturbing world of the toyshop is brought to life by the vivid set design, half-concealing the torn parts of dummies and dolls, and by the live orchestra which accompanies the strange occurrences of the play with sliding atonal notes.” Eluned Gramich

Totally Tom (2nd week)

Tuesday 26th – Wednesday 27th January; 8pm
The Wheatsheaf
“There was no question of an awkward turtle moment, no fear of a flop, stumbled or misdelivered punch line. We were completely dominated: I found myself helplessly swaying around in paroxysms of laughter, literally unable to stop the giggles.” Imogen Sarre
“It was all round an excellent comedy performance, unparalleled by anything I’ve seen in Oxford,” Guy Davis

Going Down (2nd week)

Tuesday 26th – Saturday 30th January; 8pm
OFS Studio
“It has a lot to say, and it deserves an audience willing to listen.  The only question is:  can the production itself actually get any of this across?” Greg Fox
“The monologues themselves are unapologetically grotesque, often sexual in nature, and the audience finds itself equally disturbed and sympathetic—disturbed, perhaps, to find itself so readily sympathizing with perverts and manipulators and murderers.” Jennifer Kratz

Far Away (2nd week)

Tuesday 26th – Saturday 30th January; 7.30pm
Burton Taylor
“Directors Richard O’Brien and Robert Williams steer…the audience fearlessly through a play which systematically refuses to explain itself, and they never leave its central theme in any doubt.” David Ralf
“Highly reminiscent of George Orwell’s Animal Farm and 1984, we are told in urgent and hushed voices how animals and countries alike have become embroiled in a world of rapidly switching alliances.” Camilla Turner
